The only management interface that you need is your normal e-mail software.  You may need to be able to send and receive attachments.
People can join and leave your list(s) automatically if you wish and you can be informed about each transaction if needed.
Customised List Manager software is supplied to help guide you through the processes.  Nothing is installed; it just interacts with your existing e-mail system.
The List Manager software helps you to:
  > distribute messages to your list(s)
  > tell people how to join and leave your lists
  > add and remove individual  e-mail addresses yourself
  > add and remove e-mail addresses yourself in bulk
  > request current membership listings
  > check that messages were sent to individual addresses
